Insurance profited from the post-war boom and many markets were growing fast. But there was a shortage of insurance expertise to meet the high interest. To promote training of insurance experts, especially from emerging markets, Swiss Re founded the Swiss Insurance Training Centre (SITC) as a trust in 1960. During the first 25 years, more than 1300 participants from 80 countries attended SITC's courses. The classes took place in Zurich in a historic villa built by the architect Fritz Wehrli.

Today, Swiss Re Institute continues SITC's legacy, serving as a multicultural platform to promote insurance expertise for both employees and clients.
